Workshop on “Mastering Concrete Mix Design”
The Department of Civil Engineering, Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies (GITS), Udaipur, successfully organized a two-day hands-on workshop on
“Mastering Concrete Mix Design” on 18–19 March 2026, based on Indian Standard practices (IS 10262 & IS 456), jointly organized with UltraTech Cement Ltd., Udaipur.
The workshop commenced with an insightful inaugural address by Dr. Sangeeta Choudhary (Head, Civil Engineering Department), who emphasized the importance of concrete mix design in modern construction and motivated students to gain practical exposure.
🔹 Day 1
Highlights (18 March 2026):
A technical session was conducted by Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Assistant Professor, where students learned the fundamentals of mix design, including selection of materials, water-cement ratio, and target mean strength. The session included hands-on preparation of trial mix and casting of concrete specimens, strengthening their practical understanding.

🔹 Day 2
An industrial visit to UltraTech Cement Ltd. (RMC Plant), Udaipur was organized under the guidance of Mr. Nishit Jain and Mr. Rahul Lilani (Assistant Professors). Students gained exposure to RMC operations, batching processes, quality control techniques, and laboratory testing procedures, with active support from the UltraTech engineering team.
🎯 The workshop effectively bridged the gap between theory and field practice, enhancing students’ technical knowledge and industry readiness.
